In my previous (and hitherto only) post here I happily proclaimed: “I look forward to writing on this blog”. Well, that was almost three months ago without much writing taking place in the meantime. The funny thing here is that this does not stem from a lack of ideas. No, quite the opposite – I’ve had a plethora of ideas and miscellaneous thoughts I’ve wanted to explore in writing. After all, that’s why I started this “blog”.
I suspect I have thought about writing almost every day since that previous post. But there is walking the walk and all that. I usually don’t have trouble with that, but this path has been strikingly demanding. What I have come to experience is that writing is incredibly humbling, which pairs poorly with a proud boy like myself. Writing forces you to transform a mess of (seemingly brilliant) ideas into a structured and logical sequence of words. Many ideas are left to rot here indefinetaly as transformation of the unstructured into the structured reveals holes, inconsistencies and contradictions. But this is good! Because we have now constructed a frame, a leaky frame, but it’s always been leaky!, and we have now identified the holes. So lets get to plugging the holes. Or maybe duct tape over them :-) … Not before long we a more refined idea. Closer to the truth, and closer to the source. This is why I want to write.
Going forward …
A section of text does not need to be immidiately perfect, or even satisfactoy. As long as good honest progress is made we are hopefully converging to the truth. Or maybe a local minima of bullshit. But that’s an improvement.
What’s next
Last month I visited an old stave church. It completely changed my understanding of technology – an aspect important to my view on the world. I was meaning to write some words on it, but … that will be next time. For now, I look forward to writing on this blog.
